To Feel

To feel
Is not a curse
It is a privilege; a luxury; a gift
A higher order
Calm breezes wafting
A breath well taken
A hum in the distance
Life
It fills us with sensation
Consuming
Reality comes
And speaks to us
Although it is not forceful
We are the force
We decide whether
the path into our truest self
remains shut
Feeling itself brings a sort of pain
The shock of realizing we are alive
We are awake and yet constantly awakening
The more we feel, the more we shrink from it
The burning, the electricity
We can almost smell the energy of sensational awareness hurtling towards us
Fear!
We close our eyes and ears.
Is the nightmare of feeling too much, feeling authentically, over?

If you open your eyes and explode with the heat, the singe;
You have a chance to burn more brightly than the fiery stars themselves,
And even though numbness brings death most quiet
We still believe we have a choice
